Hmm ..hashen maybe you're right, but there was definitely some scratching going on!

I love them! I'd like to say gentle giants but they can be quite aggressive.. Not sure if I'd say all black in colour - atleast not these guys that have a striped belly and spots of pink/yellowish on the face and back (see pic no.3).
unique species, unlike common water monitor, these monitors are all black in colour
Not so sure, I think it might be a mating ritual?
