Steve, thx for the comment. I was just using a basic SLR camera I rented from the scuba place, which they put in a plastic waterproof shell (at a cost of about $50 a day btw!).
im a total beginner with underwater shots, basically got lucky with this one, but someone on my dive suggested I re-set the white balance while at the depth you are shooting at, and you need to re-adjust every 5-10 meters up or down. that minimizes your color loss at lower depths (i think this shot was at about 18 meters). that one trick helped me get a lot of good shots on that dive
