We have a similar looking genus in North America called Physonota, the tortoise beetles. I'd guess that your spotting is related somehow, but probably not the same species. See http://bugguide.net/node/view/216036/bgi... for information on one of our tortoise beetles.

Nice photograph by the way--the photography is getting really good on this site and this is a very nice photograph. Congrats.
