Description:

Testudo hermanni can be found throughout southern Europe. Two subspecies are known: the eastern Hermann's tortoise (T. h. hermanni ) and the western Hermann's tortoise (T. h. boettgeri ). The eastern population (T. h. boettgeri ) inhabits Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Turkey and Greece. The pictured Testudo hermanni boettgeri turtle was spotted near Nea Potidaia, Kassandra Peninsula , Chalkidiki, Greece.
