Laura, then don't show him this photo: Those are actually palps, that they use to grab prey. Although I find them a bit frightening myself (they're the only spider that makes me queasy), they really don't bother people, and in fact are very frightened of us.

This is why I'll never be able to convince my boyfriend to go to Australia... he'd have a heart attack! Those fangs are IMPRESSIVE! Did you usher him out of your kitchen in the end? How would you go about getting a huntsman out of your house actually?
