Salvia coccinea
This grows almost all year round here on the High Plateau. They grow in the shade and in the sun. The blooms are about 2 cm long. They have the small pink ends on the stamens. and the drop petal on the flower.
Shade and sun everywhere except in the pine needle covered areas.
Home to bugs of many kinds. Always a fun flower to look at.

Your right! Thanks a lot everyone. I have wondered about this plant for 4 1/2 years. I wonder no more.
You're right, I agree with alice and ceherzog
I'd say Salvia, too. Perhaps Salvia coccinea.
I'll check out your leads. Thanks! They are one of my favorite flowers. The red is so deep and insects seem to choose them as hangouts.
Very Pretty!
Reminds me of our Salvia.
maybe a species of Aeschynanthus
