Jackdaw

Corvus monedula

Description:

The smallest member of the Corvus genus. It can be easily distinguished by the grey nape and striking pale irises. Very intelligent birds.

Notes:

The University campus where I work has lots of jackdaws! I love these birds, they're so bold which makes them great models. I've seen them work out how to get food out of all number of wrappers, containers and bins.
