Five-lined Skink

Eumeces fasciatus

Description:

Approx. 7 inches long. Dark brown stripes along with 5 tan stripes seem to indicate that this individual is a female.

Habitat:

Crossing a man-made wooden bridge that is part of Columbia, Missouri's Rails to Trails program. Surrounding wilderness is forested with several streams running through.

Notes:

My skink taxonomic skills are rusty... any help is appreciated.

I agree this is a female, as the males tend to have an orange (or red) head.
Beautiful spotting and photo.
