Agkistrodon contortrix mokasen
A snake we found along a path in the woods near Calvert Cliffs.
Good call, and a good attitude to have regarding snakes
Thanks for the I.D., MitchRay! We were very careful not to get to close, despite not knowing whether or not it was poisonous. Better safe than sorry.
They are neat critters, and Copperheads sure are pretty.
Wow! Snakes really fascinate me!
That's a Northern Copperhead, Agkistrodon contortrix mokasen. Make sure you keep your distance, as they are venomous.
