This beautiful ichneumon wasp is fairly common in Minnesota. Long antennae, black eyes, orange body. Short ovipositor.
Attracted to lights at night. Eastern deciduous forest and savanna.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised. Ichneumons tend to be somewhat specialized and I don't know for sure what this particular species tend to go after. Typically, however, ichneumons destroy lots of other insects, many of which are pests. Thanks for the comments on the photo. Hmmm... I actually uploaded two photos. I'll go back and upload the second side view photo in a couple of minutes (this is my artsy shot...grin).
Aren't these guys considered beneficial insects to gardeners? Nice picture!
