Red-Bellied Woodpecker

Melanerpes carolinus

Description:

Ladderback, red cap and light breast. May have just a streak of pink on the belly.

Habitat:

He is perched on an Electric pole behind my neighbor's house. I think this is a young one brought up in a nest high up in a palm tree next door to my neighbor. We had had a cool night and I think he was warming up in the sun. They are fairly common in our area.
