LOL, they are protective. Very chatty, too. Their song reminds me of summers in the Mid-West when I take my lunch break walks. I now live on the West Coast but their song always takes me back to home.

He's beautiful! We had red winged blackbirds nesting in the big clumps of ornamental grass by our mailbox this year & I kept getting dive-bombed by the female when I went to pick up the mail!

Yes! This bird was grooming himself when I snapped this photo. He/she is all poofy.
