A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Alliaria petiolata
Tall, thin green stems lined with jagged-edged, heart-shaped flowers. Clusters of small white flowers sit at the top.
Growing in Etobicoke Valley Park, near a creek's edge. The plant is found in numerous places in the valley, but this cluster was growing where brush lining the waters edge met the cut lawn of baseball diamonds.
This image captures the final moments of this bit of garlic mustard's life. An invasive species in these parts, I took the pictures during a community stewardship event ( http://www.trcastewardshipevents.ca/ ). Annual garlic mustard pulls are held in an effort to eventually clear the valley of the plant.
