Description:

The cicada has red eyes and a black thorax. Their wings have orange veins and are translucent. Cicadas are 2.4 to 3.3 cm long. They are underground for 13-17 years. They come up in the spring time for 4-6 weeks to mate and then go back down for 13-17 years.

Habitat:

Cicadas live in eastern North America. They live above ground for 4-6 weeks and underground for 13-17 years.
