Alice is right, this is the inflorescence of a tree. Eulalia, keep watching and take photos when the flowers are open so that we can identify it. By the way I like the series!
Alice, sorry to contradict you. The first photo shows the cup forming a cap (operculum) that covers the bud and is released when the flower opens. In the second photo shows the stamens, rarely below 20. I think it is a form of Callistemon, but the shape of the leaves is not known to me. Ashish and Alice, best regards.
Not a flower, it is an inflorescense of a tree. The flowers were there but now these are the seed pods, often enjoyed by our squirrels.on our Palm tree. What kind of tree is this please? This is in answer to the first picture. Glad to see a picture of the flowers also.

It has traits of eucalyptus and melaleuca which are both in the myrtyle family. Pretty little flowers.
