Paropsis marmorea
A brown pitted leaf beetle with yellow spots. The red banding on the pronotum is unusual. The patterns seem intermediate between two species of aegrota and geographica.
On red box eucalypt tree.
I believe P. aegrota has less spotting and no beading along the elytra Paropsis marmorea has one lateral row of beading from the leading edge of the elytra and P. geographica has two, at least in part. Marmorea is more brightly colored with red pronotum and yellow hem and geographica is plain brown while aegrota is pale in the specimens I know of. . aegrrota = http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/210... marmorea = http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/626... geographica = http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/284...

Thank you Leuba.
It's one or the other, nothing new here.
Could it be sunburned already?
Very nice Martin. Could it be an entirely different species ? The colours on the pronotum are so bright and not the old olive green !. Anyway, you know these guys so well you'll find out soon enough. I am pleased they are out now -should start looking.
