Alice, I added a Wiki link for Pratincoles in general to answer your questions. It says pretty much what I would have said anyway. Earlier in the day they had all been on the breeding island, viewable from a hide, but after we had eaten lunch by the beach they were standing along the track and I was able to get very close by hiding behind a refuse bin! This one was just a few feet away and could hear the camera but could not see it! They let you approach fairly close then fly up and settle a little further away if you get too close. He was obviously unsettled by my invisible presence! We have mostly said "he" but could be either sex"

Looks like he played with his mommies mascara and lipstick!
Very nice.
What a beautiful bird, although it does look a little annoyed in a couple of the shots!
Beautiful series!
Do you know anything more about it? Who it is related to? What it eats?
Woah! What a beautiful face!
