Favia Coral

Favia sp.

Habitat:

Tropical, low nutrient coastal waters

Notes:

From some of the photos I took when I was doing a small research project on coral diseases. This is a secondary infection, where the coral has been bitten by a parrotfish and the bite has then attracted disease. I included the second photo so you could see all the small magnificent detail on the coralites!

Thanks Luc! The infection wasn't so bad, something the coral could heal from! It adds something interesting to the picture I guess too :)

Even if infection is bad for corals, it's a very beautiful photography. It is a true art in photography to cut a regular pattern with a visual element differant (the infection). In addition to your two images respect the rule of third .:)) I like your corals !
