Brown Pansy

Junonia hedonia ida

Description:

Nymphalidae; Nymphalinae; Nymphaliini; Junonia hedonia ida Cramer, 1775. These photos were taken when I saw two Brown Pansies fluttering around, in some kind of mating dance. I could only take pictures when one or both landed momentarily. They never landed close enough to each other to allow one photo showing both of them together. So I have five pictures, but cannot differentiate the sexes.

Habitat:

Spotted in the rice mill backyard, fluttering around and sometimes landing on the stems of some very old banana plants.
