Scarlet Pimpernel

Anagallis arvensis

Description:

Scarlet pimpernel flowers open only when the sun shines. It has a wide variety of flower colors, including orange, red, and blue. These flowers were growing very low to the ground and were a very vibrant orange color.

Habitat:

I spotted these flowers at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. They were growing in a tiny spot of dirt between two huge rocks, approximately 20 feet from the ocean.
