Description:

Perennial,bright yellow taproot;stems simple,4-25cm high,densely white-wooly.Lower leaves long petiolate;uper leaves short petioate;blades narrow,deeply pinnatifid to pinnately compound;lobes toothed to pinnatifid.Inforescence densely flowered but soon elongating;bracts similar to leaves,white-wooly;calyx 5-toothed;corolla15-20mm long,deep pink or rarely white,upper lip slightly arched,lacking teeth;capsule 8-13mmlong,ovate with an acute beak

Habitat:

moist stony tundra North America,arctic-alpine;barely entering Siberian Peninsula;in North America,southern greenland and Quebec to Alaska,south to northrn British Colmbia,in Yukon found through out the alpine regions.
