California coastal woodlands. Likes burrowing into decomposing wood and leaves.
Found this monster of a salamander amongst rotten wood at the bottom of our woodpile.

These giant salamanders can also bark when really agitated. This fella was found on a cool spring morning, so he was really lethargic. We put him back after this photo just as he was starting to wake up.
