Turkey Vulture

Description:

The turkey vulture is a very large with a wingspan of about 175 cm (approx. 6 feet). It's plumage is dark brown to black but the underside of the primaries, secondarys, and tertiary feathers may flash silver in sunlight as it rides thermal air currents. It's head is featherless and red. The bill is short, but heavily constructed.

Habitat:

This is a very far-ranging bird and can be found throughout the Americas from southern Canada south. It utilizes many different types of habitat.
