Moth Eggs

Peridroma sp.

Habitat:

In my house on the ceiling.

Notes:

My wife spotted something on our bathroom ceiling and pointed it out to me. I immediately recognized it as a clutch of eggs of some sort. Each egg is less than 1mm. She is not too happy that I am keeping them up there to photograph the moment they emerge:) I'm sure they will be the cutest little caterpillars ever.....to be hatched in my bathroom:) I looked around on the net and narrowed it down to Peridroma, probably Peridroma saucia, as they are quite common. Any confirmation is greatly appreciated. I'm sure it was attracted to the porch light and got in.

I have added a couple of photos to show the caterpillars that emerged from the eggs yesterday. They sat on the ceiling for a few hours, and then began parachuting down with strands of silk. I took them all outside and let them loose in the garden.

Will do! I'm hoping for little caterpillars in a couple of weeks. My wife is still frowning at me:)
