Crab

Description:

This small crab is sand-colored and almost indistinguishable from the sand underwater.

Habitat:

This crab was on the sand under water only a foot or less deep near the beach.

Notes:

I saw several of these crabs. They seem to like being underwater. They can dig themselves into the sand rapidly. When I caught this one and had wet sand in my hand he grabbed it grain by grain and fed each grain through his mouth so I assume he filters food from the sand. I don't know what species this is so any ID is appreciated.
