Turnip-tailed Gecko

Thecadactylus rapicauda

Its color varies, individuals can also change color. Its name comes from its swollen tail, which is used to store fat.

I spotted this gecko on the wall of the bathroom near the campsite at Iwokrama reserve.

JuanDiTrani, Gecko can be found in warm climates throughout the world. So i think there is no much surprised to find the same species in the Americas.

Juan, you have to give me some time to reply to comments before you assume something. I do find it interesting you saw a similar species. Are you going to post it on Noah?

mmm, I thought it was interesting to find the same specie from Panama to Guyana. I guess you are not interested on biogeography
