Calopteryx splendens

Description:

This variety of damselfly is small with an electric blue body and a distinctive black splodge on each wing. They dart about quickly and to start off with you just see a blue flash until you track one day resting on a plant.

Habitat:

This one was alongside a small river bank with corn fields on either side.
