Little Owl in the dark

Athene noctua

Description:

Searches for food from suitable lookout posts at dusk.

Notes:

This guy has been around most evenings just before dark and on this occasion suddenly appeared on an electricity pole right by the house. I just pointed the camera and shot, it was set at ISO 1600 and handheld. Before I could mount it on the tripod the owl dived on his prey and reappeared much further away. The colouring is caused by the excessive noise from the high ISO number on a 5 year old sensor.

Before clicking on the spotting, putting my glasses on and reading your story I thought it was a shadow! I hope he'll be back for you. In the mean time you have an arty mosaic-like shot...
