Rabid Wolf Spider

Rabidosa rabida

Description:

A large wolf spider with a gray background on the body. The carapace has two black stripes and the abdomen has one large black stripe in the middle with a narrow one on each side.

Habitat:

She had a burrow under a short section of a corrugated pipe near a section of timber. I saw her mostly going between her burrow and a fenceline with weeds bordering the timber.

Notes:

"Rabid" wolf spider is really a misnomer. She was not flighty at all and I got a lot of good pictures until her little ones hatched out. We then had to leave. I assume all went well, but she never calls, never writes :-(
