Yes be very careful around them. I know around where I live they are not afraid to attack people that cross their paths. Also, they are strong enough to take down deer!

Ahh, just realized I received Spotting of the Day on this photo; Thank you so much! These guys are quite the characters... and yes, they can be very vicious. They were known at the wildlife park to be pretty mean when they became displeased with the keepers cleaning their pens. Sadly, because of this, I didn't spend nearly as much time with these creatures as I would have liked to!

We actually found a porcupine that had been skinned and were told only a fisher could do that. They are wonderful determined beings, but pretty tough on cats and small pets
