Sooty Oystercatcher

Haematopus fuliginosus ophthalmicus

Description:

The only all black shorebird in and endemic to Australia, Sooty Oystercatchers are a "striking black [colour] with a long red bill, red eye and pink legs." (Birdlife Australia)

Habitat:

This pair were bathing, preening, drinking and eating along the shoreline at Pender Bay, Dampier Peninsula.

Notes:
