Pansy Tricolor

Viola × wittrockiana

Description:

Tricolor variety. The pansy flower has two top petals going over each other slightly (light purple in this variety), two side petals (Purple and yellow), connectors where the three lower petals join the center of the flower, and a single bottom petal with a slight marking (Dark purple in center to Yellow on the edge).

Habitat:

Garden beds in early spring. It will live through some snow and freezing but does not survive heat well.

Notes:

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens, in Midtown, Georgia had tons of Pansies in their planters, pots, raised beds, and in the ground where they maintain seasonal annuals. A lot of professional landscaping companies around here who maintain neighborhood entrances and office complexes use these plants in the early spring.
