Description:

The genus Neckera is in the family Neckeraceae in the major group Bryophytes (Mosses and liverworts). Characterized by flat branches that have recurved teeth at the tips.

Habitat:

Spotted large hanging mats growing on vine maples in a wetland\bog. Mixed forest.

Notes:

Typically found on decaying logs, trunks, hanging from branches, soil, rock of mixed conifer-hardwood forests, redwood forests, humid coastal forests; low to moderate elevations (0-500 m); B.C.; Alaska, Calif., Idaho, Oreg., Wash.
