Barn Swallow

Hirundo rustica

Description:

Barn Swallows have cobalt blue wings, back, tail, and head and a white/tawny breast. In flight, they have a characteristic long forked tail. They are speedy fliers and swoop around with amazing speeds to feed on flying insects.

Habitat:

Prospect Park - near the lake

Notes:

It looks like these barn swallows have a nest underneath the small bridge across the lake from the boathouse. These guys are such elegant and fast fliers, I only managed to catch these shots by luck.
