Giant Clam

Tridacna gigas

Description:

The giant clam is one of the most endangered of the clam species. The can weigh as much as 441 lbs. and be almost 50 inches across.

Habitat:

The live in flat coral sand or broken coral. This one is a specimen at the Oklahoma Aquarium.

Notes:

My son was amazed by this. (That's his little finger pointing at the bottom of the picture.)
