I agree. Definitely a Magnolia, and most likely Magnolia grandiflora.

Plant appears to be Magnolia grandiflora. It could be another species given the large variety of species within the Magnolia genus & the specific photo provided.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnolia_gr...
