A katydid found on a mustard plant in our garden at Chapada dos Veadeiros in the state of Goias, Brazil.

Subfamily: Phaneropterinae Phaneropterinae is a subfamily of bush crickets or katydids. Belonging to the family Tettigoniidae, they have nearly 2060 species in 85 genera throughout the world. They are among the largest winged katydids. (Wikipedia)
Thanks, Dan! I'm not sure if that ID is correct. At least I'm pretty sure the subfamily is correct but still not sure about the genus or species. I couldn't find enough info about scudderia to say for sure and I don't even know if any scudderia species are found in Brazil.
Yes, Chapada dos Veadeiros is an amazing place and well worth a visit if you ever come back to Brazil.
Wow, this is amazing! Rhiannon, now that you have the correct ID, you can edit your spotting to include the proper common and latin names. I was in Brazil last winter. Unfortunately I never made it to Chapada dos Veadeiros, but it sounded like an amazing place.
