Weeping Widow

Description:

Cap. Largest ca. 1.5 inches; tan, darkening to brown in older mushrooms; mildly tomentose; remnants of veil present on margin. Gills mottled gray/dark brown; close with frequent partial gills. Stipe ca 0.25 inches diameter; tapering from the base to the apex; hollow; brown with fine scales on the lower stipe, ring zone with black spores, white to apex. Spore print. Black Spores dark, distinctly warted surface, with germ pore.

Habitat:

Growing scattered in a small, well-drained area that had been tilled; had settled and supported various wildflowers and sedges.
