Saltwater crocodile

Crocodylus porosus

Description:

The reason the salty is jumping like this is because us humans have been teaching them to jump for there food for tourist reasons. Each year 1000's of crocs are spotted along the adelaide river some join in on the attraction other stay away. I am a local in these parts so have been lucky enough to see my far share of wild crocs . What's even more amazing is that this attraction is natural, it takes nothing from the crocodile's habitat and changes nothing in the way it lives naturally in the wild. Looking forward to sharing some more spottings with you all.

Habitat:

Spotted this majestic animal in 2007 on the Adelaide river which is located just out of darwin. there are lots of Attractions in the area some well know some not so much (o:

I'm jealous of you for being a NT resident Stacey, I want to live there very badly for this exact reason. I love these animals and got to go on this boat cruise as well; seeing them jump is outstanding. Great shot!

You're putting together a nice collection, Stacey! If I might give a few tips. The community and data users are interested in the details of YOUR spotting. General information can be got from the reference links (there are 3 spaces provided that you can add links to). I imagine many users would want to know what's going on here (I know because I am lucky enough to have visited NT but many may not know why that salty is shooting up like a rocket and that it is not typical for a croc to jump straight up in the middle of a river, but perhaps only to grab a roosting bird or bat from under a mangrove). For habitat, users are invited to describe the actual habitat of the spotting rather than general habitat. That unique information is what makes a user's spotting valuable. You can read more about that here http://www.projectnoah.org/faq Finally, the mission "Signs of Wildlife" should not contain the species, but a sign of the species. Examples would be a croc slide, a wallaby foot print, a bird nest, a shed snake skin and so on. OK, keep these cool spottings coming!
