Description:

Tall spiky stems with joints like horsetails (Equisetum) but with apparent flowers like a grass.

Habitat:

Ornamental in dry, warm climate near San Francisco Bay.

Notes:

In every respect they look like Equisetum, but the brown flower-like bunches at the top confuse me.
