Description:

The Red Rim or Crimson-banded Black (Biblis hyperia) is a species of Nymphalidae found in Central America they sometimes stray as far north as Texas, also known as the Crimson-banded black. They can be seen flying between March and November in subtropical forest. The immature larvae feed on Tragia volubilis.
