Stripey snapper, aka Spanish Flag Snapper

Lutjanus carponotatus

Description:

This snapper displays several brown horizontal lines running along the body starting around the head and ending around the caudal peduncle. All the fins are a bold bright yellow and the pectoral fin has a distinct black spot on the base. It is know to inhabit outer reef slopes and coral reefs in large schools. Length 40cm (Maximum)

Habitat:

MacKay Reef, Greet Barrier Reef, Queensland.
