Fire Salamander

Salamandra salamandra

Mutiple sightings on this rainy late afternoon today, Location is Gaisberg, which is a 1300 meter mountain in Salzburg, Austria. The sighting took place where the elevation is circa 1000 meters, 4 Fire salamanders in all were sighted, all heading down the mountain slopes to lower ground.

Deep and elevated woodland/forest, circa 100 meters, lots of dead leaf foilage and nurmerous naturally fallen trees, rocky terrain.

Ah yeah, that's my Vizsla's nose. Don't worry he's just sniffing and we both realise that this beautiful anphibian is toxic.
