Mangrove Whelk

Terebralia palustris

Description:

With the kind help pf the Natural History Museum, we have decided this is the broken shell of a mangrove whelk, showing the inside section. The smaller one looks to be the temporary home of a hermit crab.

Habitat:

Freshwater stream near a beach so could possibly live in both fresh and salt water?
