The sap is hazardous & toxic. It is phototoxic creating burns to skin and eyes. A flower can contain 50,000 seeds. Plant is a native of China and was brought to Europe and North America as a garden ornamental.

Plant was introduced to North America and is very expensive to eradicate because plants must be cut individually by workers wearing hazardous waste handling outfits.
