Cypripedium acaule
It is recommended that this plant not be picked, because if it's blossom cycle does not cycle fully, it will not reproduce. Spotted in the woods near Shubenacadie Canal in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Taken with Canon Rebel EOS XS w/ EF-S 55-250mm IS Zoom Lens.

Awesome spotting, a lot clearer than mine. ;) Thanks for sharing.
Great picture, I snapped on of the same flower a few months ago.

Thank you kindly :) Coming from you that's a great compliment.
Spectacular. Lovely and technically perfect.
Thanks Dan! :)
Great shot!
:) She's a wonderful gardener, I love to hear her knowledge of the local plant life.
Wise words from your granny - now I know too :)
Thank you! I have a lovely memory of walking along a brook in a park near my grandmother's house one year, and seeing many of these beautiful rare plants. She told me never to pick them, as lovely as they were, because of their intricate reproduction pattern.
Beautiful photo of a beautiful flower!
