5mm in size. Spider in foreground is the male, the female is under the leaf in the background. Walk sideways or backwards. Thick legs, large fangs. Can capture prey 2-3 times their size. Mottled with brown and black. This particular species is a hybrid of the utahensis and the versicolor. They eat insects that land on or near them on the tree or flower they are on. Sit in wait for prey, sometimes for days. Flat bodies and coloration allow for camouflage.
Trees and flowers/plants. If on trees, they hide in the crevices of the bark. On flowers they tend to hide near the center of the flower awaiting pollinators.
