Domesticated Muscovy duck

Cairina moschata momelanotus

Description:

This group of young Muscovy ducks was found huddling in an open farmyard I crossed on one of my hikes. White with striking blue eyes, yellow eye rim, brown chest marks and black marks on the head.

Farmyard, 1400 m above sea level.

Notes:

The original wild Muscovy duck is native to Mexico and Central and South America. Like many other domestic animals ducks have been farmed for thousands of years.
