Black Garden Ant

Lasius Niger

Description:

Large black ant, about 1/2 in long. Last segment is really long, so I'm wondering if this is a queen who just recently lost her wings and is looking for a nest.

Habitat:

Was found in the grass in our backyard.

Notes:

Picture was taken of ant in Wyatt's hands.
