Lettuce

Description:

Two varieties: one a butterhead type and the other 'Red Salad Bowl'. The latter is not liked by slugs and snails here.

Habitat:

In a tyre, sown in situ in multipurpose compost with added growmore and water retaining granules. If snails show an interest in any vegetables an application of diluted garlicy water helps.

Notes:

Harvested as a cut and come again.

Good recycling practice, although the tyre must be thoroughly cleaned.

Have a few tyres used as planters. Growmore is a slow release granular fertilizer.
